6 days: Phnom Penh - Kampi - Ratanakiri - Stung Treng - Flooded Forests - Silk Islands - Phnom Penh

Trek through the jungles of Ratanakiri, swim at a crater lake, kayak the Mekong River through the flooded forests of the Mekong Wetlands. See the rare Mekong River Dolphins and cross through the Silk Islands and into Phnom Penh on a 2-deck boat.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Depart Phnom Penh by private car to Kampi where we will take a boat trip to see the rare Mekong River Dolphins. After lunch, we will continue to Ratanakiri

Day 2 Travel from Banlung by car to a small tribal village 30 minutes away, then begin trekking into the jungle, crossing a few small streams and hills. Reach a jungle campsite by a scenic creek with rapids and a cascading waterfall in the late afternoon and enjoy a swim in the clear water before an evening by the campfire.

Day 3 Trek through the hills via a different route back through the jungle to the village starting point, then return by car to Banlung.

Day 4 Visit Yak Lom Crater Lake in the late morning for a swim and a picnic lunch, then depart to Stung Treng, the town at the confluence of the Mekong and Sekong Rivers, by car. In the afternoon, we will kayak the Sekong River.

Day 5 Travel North along the Mekong to the village of O Sway near the Lao border and begin a full-day kayaking trip down river through remote flooded forests of Cambodia's amazing Ramsar Wetlands. Many varieties of birds live in these forests. Picnic lunch en route provided.

Day 6 Transfer by car to the Mekong River near the Silk Islands and from there board a comfortable 2-deck cruise boat. Enjoy a picnic and swim at a sandy beach on the tip of the northern-most island and make numerous excursions on the islands including visits to an island pagoda, local silk weaving communities, farms, villages and schools before continuing the journey to Phnom Penh, enjoying great views of river life, fishing practices, a floating village, the four rivers region and the city. Watch the sunset over the river while enjoying a BBQ dinner and drinks on board before arriving at Phnom Penh.
