Trek in the jungles of Ratanakiri, swim in a crater lake, kayak through the remote flooded forests of the Mekong and visit the rare Mekong River Dolphins and Silk Islands. Explore Cambodia's beaches including sea-kayaking and snorkeling and see the highlights of Angkor at Siem Reap.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Phnom Penh. Transfer from the airport to your hotel by taxi. Overnight in Phnom Penh at a comfortable riverside hotel.

Day 2 Enjoy a private tour of Phnom Penh by tuk-tuk, visiting Wat Phnom Temple, Toul Sleng Genocide Museum, the Russian Market and Choeng Ek Killing Fields outside of Phnom Penh. In the evening, enjoy a 1-hour cruise on the Tonle Sap River (drinks included) on a two-deck cruise boat.

Day 3 Depart Phnom Penh by ferry through the Four Rivers region, then begin cycling along the quiet East Bank of the Mekong River, crossing by ferry again to the Silk Islands and cycling across the islands. Visit a floating village, a pagoda, a school and silk-weaving . Enjoy a picnic lunch and swimming in the Mekong at a sandy island beach, then transfer to private car and continue to Kompong Cham, a riverside town on the Mekong. Stay in a comfortable hotel on the riverside.

Day 4 Wake early and cycle to the twin mountain temples of Phnom Bros Phnom Srei. After exploring the temples, transfer by car directly to Ratanakiri. Overnight at comfortable hotel with a private balcony overlooking the lake in Banlung.

Day 5 Travel from Banlung by car to a small tribal village 30 minutes away, then begin trekking into the jungle, crossing a few small streams and hills. Reach a jungle campsite by a scenic creek with rapids and a cascading waterfall in the late afternoon and enjoy a swim in the clear water before an evening by the campfire.

Day 6 Trek through the hills via a different route back through the jungle to the village starting point, then return by car to Banlung.

Day 7 Visit Yak Lom Crater Lake in the late morning for a swim and a picnic lunch, then depart to Stung Treng, the town at the confluence of the Mekong and Sekong Rivers, by car. Overnight at a scenic nature lodge with a private balcony over the Mekong River.

Day 8 Travel North along the Mekong to the village of O Sway near the Lao border and begin a full-day kayaking trip down river through remote flooded forests of Cambodia's amazing Ramsar Wetlands. Many varieties of birds live in these forests. Picnic lunch en route provided. Return to the nature lodge in the evening.

Day 9 Leave Stung Treng on bicycle South along a scenic river route passing through small fishing and farming villages until arriving at a deep dolphin pool where you will stop for lunch in the village and watch the rare Mekong River Dolphins. After lunch, transfer by car to Kratie, arriving in time to watch sunset over the Mekong. Overnight at a riverside hotel.

Day 10 Transfer by car directly to Siem Reap, stopping en route at Skoun, famous for its fried tarantulas. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore the old market, museums or any other sites. Stay in a comfortable hotel with a swimming pool in central Siem Reap.

Day 11 Full day tuk-tuk tour of the temples with a specialist guide, exploring Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple, Terraces of Elephants and Leper King, Death Gate and Victory Gate and Ta Prohm.

Day 12 Travel by private car directly to Sihanoukville, Cambodia's premier beach town. Overnight at a comfortable hotel with swimming pool by the beach.

Day 13 Travel to scenic Otres Beach just outside of town and spend the morning sea-kayaking off the coast or to nearby islands and snorkeling in the clear waters. Option to spend the full day kayaking and snorkeling or to tour the beaches of Sihanoukville by tuk-tuk in the afternoon. Day 14 Enjoy a free day in Sihanoukville to relax on the beach or explore town.

Day 15 Transfer by car to the Kbal Chhay Waterfalls in the hills above Sihanoukville, then on to Ream National Park for a short hike in the mountains and lunch at a scenic location on the beach. After lunch transfer directly to Phnom Penh International Airport (or Phnom Penh city).
