Temples, trekking, kayaking, cyling and beaches, this adventure trip covers three regions of Cambodia. Trek in the jungles of Ratanakiri, swim in a crater lake, kayak through the remote flooded forests of the Mekong and visit the rare Mekong River Dolphins and Silk Islands. Explore Cambodia's beaches including sea-kayaking and snorkeling and see the highlights of Angkor at Siem Reap.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Phnom Penh. Transfer from the airport to your hotel by taxi. Overnight in Phnom Penh at a comfortable riverside hotel.

Day 2 Enjoy a private tour of Phnom Penh by tuk-tuk, visiting Wat Phnom Temple, Toul Sleng Genocide Museum, the Russian Market and Choeng Ek Killing Fields outside of Phnom Penh.

Day 3 Depart Phnom Penh by private car to Kampi where we will take a boat trip to see the rare Mekong River Dolphins. After lunch, we will continue to Ratanakiri, arriving at your lakeside accommodation in Banlung in the late afternoon.

Day 4 Travel from Banlung by car to a small tribal village 30 minutes away, then begin trekking into the jungle, crossing a few small streams and hills. Reach a jungle campsite by a scenic creek with rapids and a cascading waterfall in the late afternoon and enjoy a swim in the clear water before an evening by the campfire.

Day 5 Trek through the hills via a different route back through the jungle to the village starting point, then return by car to Banlung.

Day 6 Visit Yak Lom Crater Lake in the late morning for a swim and a picnic lunch, then depart to Stung Treng, the town at the confluence of the Mekong and Sekong Rivers, by car. In the afternoon, we will kayak the Sekong River.

Day 7 Travel North along the Mekong to the village of O Sway near the Lao border and begin a full-day kayaking trip down river through remote flooded forests of Cambodia's amazing Ramsar Wetlands. Many varieties of birds live in these forests. Picnic lunch en route provided.

Day 8 Depart by ferry in the morning across the Mekong and then continue by car to the remote jungle pyramid temple and lost city of Koh Ker. After visiting, we will continue on to Siem Reap.

Day 9 Full day tuk-tuk tour of the temples with a specialist guide, exploring Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple, Terraces of Elephants and Leper King, Death Gate and Victory Gate and Ta Prohm. Enjoy a buffet dinner and apsara dance show in the evening.

Day 10 Travel by car to the Mekong River near the Silk Islands. From there, we will cross the river by ferry and begin cycling along the islands. We will stop for lunch at a sandy beach and enjoy a swim and a picnic lunch at a waterside beach hut. After lunch, we will cycle across two islands and make numerous visits, including silk weaving, before taking a ferry across the four rivers and to Phnom Penh

Day 11 Travel by private car directly to Sihanoukville, Cambodia's premier beach town. Overnight at a comfortable hotel with swimming pool by the beach.

Day 12 Travel to scenic Otres Beach just outside of town and spend the morning sea-kayaking off the coast or to nearby islands. Option to spend the full day kayaking or to tour the beaches of Sihanoukville by tuk-tuk in the afternoon.

Day 13 Enjoy a free day in Sihanoukville to relax on the beach or explore town.

Day 14 Transfer by car to the Kbal Chhay Waterfalls in the hills above Sihanoukville and then along the coastal highway to Kampot and onto the colonial seaside town of Kep.

Day 15 Depart in the morning by car to the caves and limestone formations at Kompong Trach where you will find a pagoda in the center of a limestone mountain and you can explore the caves. From there, continue via a scenic route to the ancient mountain temple of Phnom Chisor where you can explore the ancient and modern temples of Phnom Chisor side by side and experience great views over the countryside below. From there, transfer directly to Phnom Penh International Airport (or Phnom Penh city).
