REMOTE TEMPLES DIRTBIKE TRIP: Phnom Penh to Siem Reap

6 days: Phnom Penh - Sambor Prei Kuk - Tbeng Meanchey - Koh Ker - Beng Mealea - Siem Reap - Angkor - Skoun - Phnom Penh

A dirtbike Tour through a region of hidden temples and deep jungles, this tour takes in the pyramid temple of Koh Ker, an overgrown version of Angkor Wat hidden in the jungle at Beng Mealea and the jungle city of Sambor Prei Kuk, older than Angkor. Emerge from the jungles in Siem Reap for a tour of Cambodia's most well known temples including Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, Bayon and more before returning to Phnom Penh.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Depart Phnom Penh by ferry and begin biking on dirt roads right away (avoiding the city traffic). Follow the Mekong north through small villages and farms, crossing by ferry to the Silk Islands and riding across two islands, before continuing along back roads north to Kompong Cham town, a quiet Mekong River city. Overnight at a riverside hotel.

Day 2 Ride a route through colonial-era rubber plantations through Kompong Thom province and after lunch turn north along dirt roads to Sombor Prei Kuk, a complex of over 100 pre-Angkorian temples hidden in dense forest. After exploring the site, continue along the trail north to Tbeng Meanchey town where you will sleep the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 3 Ride through the jungle to Koh Ker, a remote pyramid temple. After exploring the site and climbing to the top of the pyramid, continue on to Beng Mealea, a great overgrown temple hidden in the jungle. From there, continue on to Siem Reap. Overnight at a comfortable hotel with swimming pool.

Day 4 Optional Angkor Tour or car/airport transfer.
