Cambodia Coast Bicycle Tour

Through the coastal towns and countryside
5 days: Phnom Penh - Takeo - Kep - Kampot - Sihanoukville

Note: Tour can end at Sihanoukville or return to Phnom Penh.

From endless rice fields to limestone formations and mountains, this tour passes through some of Cambodia's most beautiful countryside en route to the coast where we will stay in some of the country's most interesting towns.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Depart Phnom Penh by car and then begin cycling along a scenic back route through the Cambodian countryside until we arrive at an ancient mountain where, after a climb, we will explore a temple older than Angkor. A modern monastery built alongside the ancient temple houses friendly monks and offers amazing views over the surrounding countryside. After descending the mountain, we will continue cycling to quiet Takeo town where we will stay overnight at a lakeside hotel. Cycling: up to 50 km (backup car).

Day 2 From Takeo, we will cycle through scenic villages, rice fields, orchards and hills. We will make an excursion along the way to a series of caves and limestone formations where we will find a pagoda located in the center of a limestone mountain and interesting stalagmite formations connected to local folklore. After exploring the caves, we will cycle through pepper farms as we continue on to the pretty seaside village of Kep where we will stay at a seaside resort. Cycling: up to 60 km (backup car).

Day 3 We will cycle to the colonial riverside town of Kampot in the late morning and then enjoy a relaxing afternoon and evening in town to explore on our own. Cycling: 25 km.

Day 4 We will cycle along Cambodia's coastal highway as it passes between the steep Elephant Mountains, a mass of peaks, forests and rocky outcrops, and the coast with its picturesque fishing villages. We will pass the final stretch of highway through the mountains by car, arriving at Sihanoukville, where we will stay at a hotel by the beach. Cycling: up to 60 km (backup car).

Day 5 We will explore the peninsula of Sihanoukville in the morning as we cycle along a quiet winding road connecting the numerous beaches. In the afternoon, we will have free time to explore on our own or relax at the beach. Cycling: 12 km.
